VIDEO: Amsterdam-Amstelland Police ( @PolitieAA ) continue their search the Singel Canal following reports that the remains of Amsterdammer Paul Nolan Miralles surfaced briefly in the Singelgracht waters around midday on 19 April 2011, reported the Algemeen Dagblad and regional news-broadcaster @AT5 http://bit.ly/icVkBh
The search, which was centred at the location adjacent to Max Euweplein (off Vondel Park) where the remains were seen in the water, was called-off at Singel Canal at 23:30. Police patrol boats proceeded with their search northwards along the Nassau Avenue (Nassaukade). http://bit.ly/euGYf7
Following the sighting on unidentified remains on Tuesday 19th, the authorities ordered the slues gates adjacent to the Singel Canal to be closed and halted tourists cruisers from accessing that segment of the inner-city waterways.
Witnesses at the scene reported bodily remains surfacing in the water at midday on April 19th. However, shortly after the sighting the remains were forced down beneath the surface by the turbulence created by the motor of a passing canal cruise-boat as it navigated the bend in the Singel Canal alongside Max Euwe Square, where Paul Nolan Miralles worked. He had parked his bicycle nearby last week on 12 March, before returning there to fetch it in the early hours of thirteenth April.
On the morning of Wednesday, 20 April, Paul Nolan-Miralles’ sister informed news agency @AT5 that the remains were not yet recovered.
